Florida recently completed the largest single transaction in the history of public safety wireless communications in the United States. Mr. Thayer was brought in by Governor Jeb Bush's team to lead the procurement of Florida's statewide public safety communications system.

Based on Mr. Thayer's work in selecting a vendor and negotiating their contract, Florida obtained 6000 new 800 MHz radios at no cost and is expected to save more than $200M over the projected life of the system.

The selection of a vendor was particularly contentious, as the incumbent vendor was not chosen to complete the system build out. In response to a suit brought by the unsuccessful vendor, Mr. Thayer assisted in defending the procurement process, which was found to be fair to all participants, and the suit was dismissed.
